{"id":135,"date":"2013-03-02T14:10:22","date_gmt":"2013-03-02T14:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tildenave.com\/?page_id=135"},"modified":"2023-05-04T14:57:30","modified_gmt":"2023-05-04T14:57:30","slug":"sweet-and-sour-chicken","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tildenave.com\/?page_id=135","title":{"rendered":"Sweet and Sour Chicken"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tildenave.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_2752-1.jpeg\">\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Main:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 three pound chicken, cut up<\/li>\n<li>1cup water<\/li>\n<li>1cup buttermilk<\/li>\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n<li>1 cup flour<\/li>\n<li>Vegetable oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sauce:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 can pineapple chunks in juice ( not sugar syrup- read label)<\/li>\n<li>1 green pepper, cut into chunks<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup white vinegar<\/li>\n<li>2 TB cornstarch dissolved in a bit of water<\/li>\n<li>1 TB soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>Rice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Recipe:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cook chicken pieces in water until tender. Cool. Remove from bones and cut into large chunks.<\/li>\n<li>Beat egg in medium bowl. Add buttermilk and blend. Wisk in flour. Add buttermilk gradually until mixture resembles pancake batter.<\/li>\n<li>Dip chicken chunks into batter and fry in vegetable oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.<\/li>\n<li>In saucepan place pineapple and its juice, pepper, vinegar and soy sauce. Add cornstarch mixture and cook until thickened.<\/li>\n<li>Place chicken on platter and pour sauce over. Serve with rice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><em>Note:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I often place an order for chicken fingers at the local Chinese restaurant.
