{"id":178,"date":"2013-03-02T16:00:51","date_gmt":"2013-03-02T16:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tildenave.com\/?page_id=178"},"modified":"2023-05-04T15:03:02","modified_gmt":"2023-05-04T15:03:02","slug":"torta-della-nona-apple-cake","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tildenave.com\/?page_id=178","title":{"rendered":"Torta Della Nona Apple Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Creator:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lorenza de&#8217;Medici<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>In Advance:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 350\u00ba<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/3 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>6 TB unsalted butter at room temperature plus one for the pan<\/li>\n<li>1 extra large egg<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp baking powder<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cup ground almonds<\/li>\n<li>2 cups flour<\/li>\n<li>4 golden delicious apples, peeled, cored, and grated ( processor)<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup raisins soaked in white wine for 30 minutes and drained<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup pine nuts<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup blackberry or blueberry jam ( or other dark jam)<\/li>\n<li>18 amaretti (large cookies in red Lazzaroni tin)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Recipe:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Using food processor fitted with metal blade, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.<\/li>\n<li>Add egg, baking powder, ground almonds, and flour. Process with brief pulses until crumbly.<\/li>\n<li>Coat an 8 inch springform pan with the tablespoon of butter. Cover the bottom and sides with two-thirds of the crumbled dough, patting it firmly and evenly<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl combine the apples, raisins, pine nuts, and amaretti.<\/li>\n<li>Fill the shell with the apple mixture and sprinkle the remaining crumble on top.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><em>Notes:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bake for 1 hour or until the crust is golden and the filling is set. If the crumble starts to brown too much, cover with aluminum foil.<\/li>\n<li>Let cool.<\/li>\n<li>To serve remove sides and carefully slide onto plate. Serve warm or at room temperature. Not too sweet &#8211; good for breakfast<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the butter is not too soft.<\/li>\n<li>This can be made with any fruit you like.
