{"id":210,"date":"2013-03-02T16:29:53","date_gmt":"2013-03-02T16:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tildenave.com\/?page_id=210"},"modified":"2023-05-04T15:01:52","modified_gmt":"2023-05-04T15:01:52","slug":"hot-milk-cake","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tildenave.com\/?page_id=210","title":{"rendered":"Hot Milk Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Creator:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Granny Murray<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>In Advance:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 350\u00ba<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsp vanilla<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cup milk<\/li>\n<li>3 TB butter<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups cake flour<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsp baking powder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Recipe:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Beat eggs until very light<\/li>\n<li>Beat in salt, sugar, and vanilla<\/li>\n<li>Microwave butter and milk together until butter melts<\/li>\n<li>Beat into egg mixture<\/li>\n<li>Mix and sift flour and baking powder<\/li>\n<li>Beat into egg-milk mixture<\/li>\n<li>Pour into 2 greased and floured 8 inch cake pans<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 25 to 30 minutes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><strong>Notes: \u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Frost with\u00a0 buttercream icing (use recipe on box of confectioners sugar 10x) flavored with 3 TB frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>B&#8217;s Notes:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a surprise for Aunt Betty&#8217;s 80th birthday I made her mother&#8217;s cake. She tasted it and said, &#8221; Oh, you&#8217;ve made Alice Gladdings cake.&#8221; \u00a0 &#8220;No,&#8221; I said, &#8221; This is Granny&#8217;s hot milk cake.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alice Gladding, a childhood friend of Betty&#8217;s, was a home economist at URI. Apparently Granny had a reputation for being a lousy baker, except for her shortbread. Alice found this foolproof recipe and gave it to Granny.
